This year’s Fairhaven 5K and Taste of Fairhaven was a huge success.

The 5K started off with a bang (literally).  The temperature was much cooler than in previous years, with a temperature of about 70 degrees at the starting line.  91 runners and walkers participated.  This year, we started a 3K that some of the walkers were able to enjoy.

After the race was finished, over 20 kids who had worked hard to decorate their bicycle participated in the first ever bicycle parade.  Some of the kids dressed up in costumes as well.

Once the bicycle parade was finished, the awards were given out for the race, and the taste of Fairhaven began.  Among the choices were egg rolls, 1/3 lb. burgers, Hoosier Hogs pulled pork, enchiladas, corn on the cobb, peanut butter pie, muffins, cookies, and more.

Since July 4th was on Thursday, we held our midweek church service at 1:30 p.m.  Clint Schrieber, a previous US Marine who is now on staff at Fairhaven Baptist Church, preached a message entitled “David’s Sin.”  In his message he explained the problem with King David and how he covered up his sin continually, and how we as Americans should not cover up our sin, but deal with it.  Only then will God be able to bless America.

After the service, many gathered for softball, volleyball, canoeing, fishing, and swimming.
