Eckels in Australia

Dear Pastor

Furlough Highlights…

It is hard to believe we are at the half way mark. We have traveled over 12,429 ministry miles and been in 40 churches with 25 to go. We thank God most of our supporting churches are in the East Coast. We are hoping and praying for new meetings and new support. We will be leaving to go back to Australia January 27th 2014.

We are excited to get back to the work the Lord has called us to. We have many plans for our next term with another church plant and an outback ministry to reach small communities in the outback with the Gospel.

Meetings have been going very well. We have reported back to many of our churches on what God has done the past 7 years in Australia.

Ministry Highlights…

Reports from the Land Down Under are good reports. Westside Baptist is maturing very well in our absence. Westside has had 6 baptisms, 5 souls saved, and a new family joining the church. The church had a full house last week. We are thankful for Pastor Mark Escaner who is holding the fort Down Under.

Death has struck our church family this year, three times. Two members lost loved ones and a faithful attender lost her husband. God has given much grace to the families. I thank God for a church family during these times.

Australia Highlights…

Australia has a new Prime Minister, Tony Abbot. Australia said good bye to a labour (democratic) government and has voted in a liberal (conservative right) leader. Spiritually speaking it will not change much but he has recently labeled same sex marriage as an abomination. I am reminded of the word of God “when the righteous rule there is rejoicing.” Pray for Tony Abbot, as he seeks to steer Australia back to the right.

Family Highlights…

The family remains healthy, yet, a little tired of all the traveling. Sometimes I have to ask what state and what church we are in. Our oldest daughter has gone off to Bible college and is having a great time. She is doing well in her classes and enjoys her time at school. The other three continue to homeschool and spend time with friends.
